All you need to know about Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay KOA RV Park in 5 minutes!

Our summer adventures in the Class C 30' RV continued on to the Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay KOA! Located right between Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay, this Holiday KOA was a great family spot with TONS to do!

Check out our weekly Vlog episode from our time there! See the different amenities from the KOA and some of our favorite activities in the area.

BOOKING/CHECK-IN

Booking through their website was easy to do! You know what you will get from a KOA and this was no different. Check-in was 2pm and they had everything ready for us to head right up to our site. The office is at the bottom of a pretty steep slope where all the sites are, not the worst grade but we always love to know when those are coming! Our phone navigation app brought us in on a very windy road from Watsonville where we got off Highway 1. If you can, drive in on San Andreas Road, not Buena Vista Drive.

RV SITE

Our site was a back-in multi-purpose site, as mentioned you have to climb a steep hill to get up to where the sites are, but overall the park is very clean and well kept. Asphalt roads led throughout the park with gravel and dirt sites. There are trees all over, providing great shade and views, and the RV sites on our stretch along the back of the park were separated by large shrubs which helped you feel more private.

We tow our van and had plenty of room on the side and behind our RV. There was a fire pit and table available near the rear of our site. Lining the back of the park is a small stream bed, which provided a view of the untouched forest behind. We saw a silver fox roaming the area our first day!

AMENITIES & LIFE IN THE PARK

The restroom and showers were cleaned multiple times a day and located conveniently. Our site was close to two different options, which was great! There are no dumpsters along the roads, but instead the staff asks that you take any trash in bags out to the road every morning prior to 11am and they will pick them up and take care of them - that was awesome!

The pool and hot tub were large with plenty of seating areas. However, the pool is located down by the office. Because of the large hill, it wasn't the most walkable trip. The playground and jumping pillow/recreation area were pretty central in the park, though and the kids loved meeting new friends and playing there!

LOCAL ACTIVITIES

Throughout the week, we took the kids on trips to Monterey Bay's Fisherman Wharf, the SUPER fun Dennis the Menace park, and just one mile from Manresa Main State Beach! We also went to the Roaring Camp Railroad and Santa Cruz Boardwalk, which was SO fun that it deserves it's own post, so you can check that out as well!

SUMMARY

This is a GREAT destination for families that want to be close to beaches, nature, and have plenty to do for any young children. Great sites, plenty to do, fairly consistent wifi, and just a beautiful area. 5 minutes is up! Excited to hear how you get on the move, reach out to us on Instagram with any questions!
